How to enable FP2 style transitions in FP1 devices

Menu transitions and effects are just a few of the new features included in Nokia's Feature Pack Two S60 devices. These subtle animations really do make a difference and give S60 a feeling of "newness". The N81 of all devices was blessed with a firmware update that enabled these effects, despite the N81 being a Feature Pack One device. That firmware update has now allowed users of the N95 8GB and maybe some other devices to take advantage of the theme effects, too.

Please note that this hack is only working on phones with V20 firmware! V30s, V31s, V11s, V10s, V12s and others will NOT work.

***READ THIS BEFORE STARTING***

You'll need:
-A hacked phone with ROMPatcher and a file browser(like Y-Browser or x plore) installed. [Download rompatcher, Download x plore, Download y browser]
-To make sure that all of your themes are installed on the C drive(internal memory).

1)Download the KastorUI zip file from here: extract it and then copy the Kastor UI folder to your phone's memory card.

2)Disable platform security either by using CapsOff or ROMpatcher and then use a file browser navigate to the KastorUI folder and copy the KastorUI.rmp file to the patches folder on your memory card.

3)Copy the entire effects folder(from the KastorUI folder) into C:\Resource.

4)Copy the effects.sel file(from the KastorUI folder) and then navigate to C:\Resource\skins. In here, paste the effects.sel file into each of the folders and then rename it to the name of the folder. For example, if the name of a folder was 2000d1c3, you would rename effects.sel to 2000d1c3.sel.

5)Exit your file browser and then open ROMPatcher. Enable the KastorUI patch and set it to start automatically.

6)Navigate to the themes application, highlight your current theme and press options, select theme effects and then turn them off and back on again. *DO NOT EXIT THEMES* Instead, press the Symbian Menu button to open the menu and voila, your theme effects are working!

Every time you turn off your phone, simply repeat step 6 to get your theme effects back.

Note : As I dont have nokia n82, it has not been tasted by me.
 

Windows 3.1 on s60v5

Ever wondered how powerful your phone is? Well, Nokia 5230 has a RAM and CPU that exceeds the first computer that I had used back in the early 90's...

I was able to run Windows 3.1 successfully on my Nokia 5230 and I am so happy about it that I am actually going to share the recipe with you all. This procedure was already shared by others on other threads (like http://www.imserba.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125592) (better than this), but they did not tackle the 'no physical keypad' problem of 5230.

Try out this on your own risk. I have just shared what I did to get this done.

Prerequisits:
Hacked Nokia s60v5 phone

X-Plore 1.31 (recently released in the site of lonely cat games, kindly Google it to get it) - good for doing all the file manupilations

Files you need:
Essentials Package - http://uploading.com/files/aa5423bc/Win3.1%20on%20S60v5%20Essentials%20Package.rar/
Windows 3.1 files - http://uploading.com/files/cd734a25/Data.zip/

Ingredients: (All of the following stuffs are available in the linked package except Windows 3.1 files which is available from the 2nd link)
DosBox (including all its dependencies)
Windows 3.1 files
Virtual Keyboard for s60v5

Steps:
Extract everything from the package and copy it to a sutiable directory in your memory card (preferably in 'Others' directory).
Install all the .sis & .sisx files (glib.sis, pips_nokia_1_3_SS.sis, SDL-1.2.13-S60-2.3.4_armv5.sisx, ssl.sis, stdcpp.sis, stdioserver_s60_1_3_SS.sis) in the 'DosBox Dependencies' directory inside the package.
Install dosbox.sisx (found inside 'DosBox' directory).
Install wfvirtualkeyboard_0.9.4.sisx (this requires signing, even in hacked phones) from the 'Virtual Keyboard' directory.
Copy the directory 'data' from the package and overwrite the 'data' directory found in your phone memory (C:\). In other words, you need to copy the two files from inside the 'data' directory in package to the 'data' directory in 'C:\data' ('data' directory in phone memory)
Copy the 'windows' and 'calmira' directories from your the second package to the following location of memory card 'E:\dos\c\' (create the 'c' and 'dos' directories as required). Eventually making 'E:\dos\c\windows' and 'E:\dos\c\calmira' available to dos box.
Start the Virtual Keyboard app from your phone menu and then DosBox app.
Your the asterisk key (*) on your virtual keyboard to toggle between keyboard and mouse mode.


Use of certain keys in the virtual keyboard:
Cetner Key > Enter Key / Left Click
Arrow Keys > Direction Keys / Mouse Movement Keys
Right Soft Key > ESC Key
